How to configure the "Edit" button in IE6

Postby Cactus » Wed Mar 31, 2004 5:28 pm

Hi...
How do I configure the Edit button in the Toolbar in Internet 6?
In Internet Options under the Programs Tab>HTML Editor drop down box only Windows NotePad shows up.
I would like it to give me a choice of Notepad,FPExpress,WordPad.
Can I do this or only one can be displayed?

Do this for each Program you want to add to the "Drop down" list:
Go to Start / Run / Type regedit to open the Registry Editor.
Navigate to the Windows registry key for your editor by starting at the following hive: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.htm\OpenWithList\
Right click "OpenWithList" and choose "New" and "Key."
Name the key.

For WordPad:
Name the key as follows: WordPad
Highlight the new key, right click on it and create an new key named "shell" under the "WordPad" key.
Highlight "shell," right click on it and create a new key named "edit" under the "shell" key.
Highlight "edit," right click on it and create a new key named "command" under the "edit" key.
Highlight the "command" key and double click on the "ab" icon on the right side frame. A window will appear where you can enter the value for the "command" key. In the string value, enter the directory path for your WordPad, for instance, as follows:

String Value for WordPad:
C:\Program Files\Accessories\WORDPAD.EXE %1

Just follow the directions I posted. Then in the Dropdown box in Internet Options / Programs select it.
