Is my power supply enough?

Postby mgeorge » Fri May 07, 2004 3:30 pm

I recently did an upgrade to my comp and had a local guy do the work. After getting the computer home I added a new Sapphire 9600 Pro graphics card to it and noticed that the power supply was only 250 Watts. At first I was told it was a 350 Watt and then on the reciept it said 300 Watt, so I think I took it up the rear end on this one and I'm gonna call the guy today. My questions is however, is that enough for my system specs. I appreciate any help anyone can give me as I want to be at least somewhat informed before calling this guy. Any help ASAP would be greatly appreciated.

That's the bare minimum. I'd go after what I was told I was getting.

Thanks for the fast reponse Brad. I'm going to call him now and tell him I spoke to an expert. Would that cause the system to run hot at all? I noticed my CPU temp seems to be running at aruond 52 C and after running a game that pushes the system it goes up to about 56 or 57 C. Thanks again.

More power would make overclocking more stable although personally i dont see enough benefit to ocing a vid card to justify the risk of frying it.My suggestion is not to OC it.
