missing files

Postby scrooge » Sun Jul 13, 2003 1:36 pm

 Hi, I successfully installed Aldus Freehand v4 on my old computer running win95 but can't get it to run on win xp. I get the message file error and can't find ALDNCD.DLL, ALDVM.DLL, ALDVM.DLL, ALDPLS2.DLL and c:\FH4\FH4.EXE these messages all appear in different windows. When I installed on win95 I got a message saying a path had to be created in autoexec.bat, but I can't find it on winxp. Thanking anybody for any help.

In winXP the path isn't stored in autoexec.bat - go to the system applet in control panel, then go to advances & click the environment variables button. You can set/edit the path there for either the entire system or just the current user :)

missing files fixed

Postby scrooge » Thu Aug 14, 2003 10:24 am

 After much playing I have found a solution for the missing files for the program Aldus that I tried to install onto winxp. The files were in the Aldus file so I copied them [in windows explorer]and went to windows, system file and pasted. Have had no problems since and the program runs beautifully. It may work for any other programs that xp does not recognise.!
