Scn-files that cnnot be deleted or quarantined

Postby distrautuser » Wed Mar 31, 2004 12:34 am

When I do a scan I get these files that cannot be deleted or quarantined. I want to copy the list to you but don't know how. So do I have to type them all individually to be able to give you what the files are? Thank you.

There are a few ways to save log files. Try clicking FILE. SAVE AS or if all else fails try left clicking SELECT ALL. left click Again COPY and paste into a file folder.

Scan files

Postby distrautuser » Wed Mar 31, 2004 10:50 am

I don't want to save these file, I want to get rid of them but it won't allow me to do that so everytime I do a virus scan these files keep coming up. Left clicking on them won't work and neither does right clicking. They all come up as c:\restore\archive with an FS number after it. Also my computer has been freezing on me lately and when I do alt, ctl, delete, I end the task then shut everything off. When I turn the computer back on it says I shut down improperly and I know I didn't. Then windows reappear with a restore active desktop screen. I'm going to learn how to use this computer yet!

re scan

Postby badpolarbear » Wed Mar 31, 2004 2:12 pm

Let me see if I misunderstood. You suggested you wanted to copy the files to us. First of all I think it would be good for us to know just exactly what you are scanning with. Normally most scan systems have a save log file feature. Once the log file is saved it can then be copied and pasted into one of these forums. It might be a good idea to restore the system back to an earlier configuation before the problem started. If you know the names of the files you can always go into google and do a search for "How to remove such and such a file." I have found this to be an effective way to remove unwanted items.

You must have Windows ME and these files are in the System Recovery. You will need to dump your System Recovery Points in Windows ME and it will clean out all the System Recovery points as well as the nasty ones. :) I do not have Windows ME so I can not give you the step by step on how to do this but in Windows XP it is done by turning off and on the System Recovery feature. In Windows XP you get to the System Recovery from the Desktop and right clicking on My Computer and selecting Properties/System Restore.

scan files

Postby distrautuser » Sat Apr 03, 2004 12:27 am

Thanks Ranger Rob....I tried doing what you suggested but to no prevail it won't work. I know that some users have difficulty running me and understanding it (like me) so I had mentioned to one of my fellow computer friends and he told me that it would be a long procedure and if I can deal with them showing up then not to worry about them. So I am not going to worry about them. Thanks for your help....
