bios problem. changing graphics card

Postby veetperson » Sun Mar 28, 2004 6:54 am

Here's my problem. Built a new computer, or so I thought. Not completlely top of the line, but thought it would be good enough to do what I wanted to do. Which was to play battlefield vietnam.

These are were my specs:
Pentium 4 2.8 ghz 533 fsb
Soyo P4i 845pe lite
512 pc2700 ddr dram
bios award 12/1/02
visiontek nvidia gforce 4 ti4600
windows xp home sp 1

Had problems running bfv. I installed windows and as soon as it reconized the video card it started flickering couldn't understand why. Also when I would hit the taskbar icon for the nvidia toolset or toolbar whatever it would also flicker. When I would start bfv it would play for a minute or two and then the system would crash, giving me a blue screen, and then the comp would restart and give me a report to windows thing. I tried everything lastest drivers for everything my chipset, my card, dx 9 which bfv needs to play. I know the card could handle the game but it just would work. So in my fustration I decided that I would go out and get another card. Not as good as the ti4600 as far as I've seen in review but considered that maybe the card is old and not all of the dx 9 is compatible with it. So I went to my local Best Buy got ripped on a radeon 9600se payed way to much for it but considring I wanted to play the game I said the hell with it. So i install it in my comp and wam nothing when I boot up. My screen is blank and I hear a long beep followed by 2 short beeps. Went to the bios website says its the bios telling me that it cant find vga support. yay for me. So i jump the cmos still nothing. I refuse to flash it unless totally the last resort. Please if anyone can help me god I would follow your every footstep hold my jacket over a puddle for you. End this toment. I'm about to throw the thing out the window. Ok thanks

I'd reinstall the card. Did you install the drivers first? Does that board have on board Video?
Pull the card, reboot with the Monitor on the Board's port, run the Software, and then shutdown and reinstall the card.
