inotice you have 1gb ram,.. i take it you are running xp/2000 as any win os before that dosent really support that much memory.

have you tried a fresh installation on windows...?

If your system is even having problems logging in to Safe mode then there could be a problem somewhere in your OS install. If so then I would recommend a reinstall of the OS.
Another thing could be lack of power. What is the size of your power supply? Does it have enough juice to power everything? Check this link to see if you have enough there.

One other thing you could try is Taking one of the sticks of ram out of the system. and seeing what happens, then try the other just to see if something is going on there..

Good luck

btw: this would have been better suited in hardware.. :)

you could also test your memory, memtest-86 is not so bad
this would take out the possibility of a memory problem

hi,

thanks for your replies, I have been having this problem intermittently ever since i have had this PC. I have probably re-installed windows XP about 10 times, and no difference...

I have a 500watt psu (as it says in my sig.) so I don't think there is a problem there.

I will test the memory to determine if that could indeed be the problem.

thanks again for your replies!

what's more, memtest-86 is free
If you reformat, look if the 3 operating systems support the format type you select ( i had to format in fat32 to be compatible)

hope to be able to help a bit

What do you have that's connected with Bluetooth? btkrnl.sys is part of Bluetooth's config.
