MOUSE FREEZE while gaming

Postby jolted88 » Wed Mar 17, 2004 2:46 am

Greetings... I'm experiencing a problem with my mouse freezing up mostly during game play. I have run scandisk and defragged my hd, but that did not seem to help. Could I be having a memory issue ?
k7s5a motherboard, athlon xp 2000+, 384 mb of pc133 sdram, 160 gig western digital hd, windows xp pro sp1
That particular board doesnt work well with sdram, especially 2 sticks.Remove one and see if it still happens. You can hold up to 1 gig of ddr memory(2x512),its worth upgrading.Another possibility is overheating.. is a great program for keeping up with your temps. If your getting in the 50's c you need better cooling.Try removing the side cover from your case. The last big issue with this board is the power supply.Whats the psu rating?

Hey liljim....Do you think if I changed my frequency from 133/133 to 100/100 until I get some pc2100 ddr memory it would help with the overheating problem (if that is the problem) and or my memory problem (if thats the problem) THANKS....

If you drop your freq to 100/100 your cpu will run at 1200mhz instead of the normal 1667mhz,however you will probably be more stable with the sdram @100.If you buy ddr,(and you should) buy something good, not the cheapest you can find.If indeed your temps are getting too high, underclocking to 100 will make a small difference,a better cpu heatsink and fan,a couple case fans would be a better fix.
