I have been looking at bittorrent and supernova the past couple days and I would like to know if anyone can tell me anything about it, do they use it, are there legal issues with it, am I or would I be getting into something over my head?

I know people who use them. I don't for the simple reason - yes they are illegal. It's copyright infringement.
