Hey, I bought the Asus Radeon 9800 XT not too long ago. It was running just fine until I had some issue with Deus Ex: Invisible War's new patch. I'm not sure if it was Deus Ex or the Smart Doctor tool, but whatever the case, none of my Direct 3D games run anymore.

Here's what happens. I start up a direct 3D game. The window will display full screen (just black) and then suddenly, the program will minimize. I have to close it. Then I did the Direct 3D test on my comp via DXDIAG and the tests wouldn't run. They claimed that I cancelled them by pressing a button, which I know I didn't.

Anywho, I tried overriding the monitor's refresh rates to see if that was the issue, but apparently it isn't. It's a really annoying problem. If anyone can help me, it'd be much appreciated.

By the way, the games all ran just fine earlier when i bought the card. I don't know what triggered the problem. And yes, I did try re-installing DirectX 9.0b. No luck.

What Operating System?
During Diagnostics were you running AV or your Firewall?

Yes, my firewall was up when i did the test too. It's the norton internet security.

Missed the OS post. Try running diagnostics with Norton disabled. It's a known inhibitor.

I disabled norton and am still having no luck with the Direct3D tests. It has somethign to do with the full screen functionality, I believe. Maybe something to do with refresh rates?

I guess you've tried resetting your Monitors settings. Have you been to their site to see if that's a known issue or if there are updated drivers available?

I don't know if this will help. I have an ATI Rage 128 AGP Card and it was running fine until I upgraded to sp1 and again sp2. I could not play certain games, such as Tribes 2. I found that my driver was being replaced by the Windows driver that did not have full functionality. I reloaded the original driver and everything works once again. Try reinstalling your graphics drivers if nothing else works.
