This could be as simple as the nose on my face. Anyways, here goes. When I open explorer, or msn hotmail, or anything I will first get a message PAGE NOT FOUND then when I try a second time it opens. This has been consistant lately, could it be the server is to busy or is it my computer. I hope I explained it clear enough.

You might try clearing out the Temporary Internet Files or TIF to see if this helps. In Internet Explorer go to Tools/Internet Options/General. Click on the Delete Files button. On the next screen check Delete all offline content and then click on the Ok button.

Postby badpolarbear » Tue Mar 09, 2004 2:08 am

Some times around here Distraut when the server goes down the page cannot be displayed. If it happened tonight there was a mass server downage. If MSN or ICQ or OutLook wouldnt open it was the server.Daniel

There are occaisions that I may be online but the sever is down, you may not be disconnected but the page will not show up. It is also possible that the page you are trying to view is down or it has been discontinued. I saw you mentioned some where that you felt it may be because of some recent software that was installed on your system. I am aware of all the software installed because I installed it. What we dont realize is all software is not the same, it doesnt function the same. Everything I put on your system is valid quality software. I use it on my system and have no problems with it. When we download software and install it the first thing we should do is go to the help section and read what the software does, how it does it and what we have to do to make it work for us. This situation basically goes back to the old saying " when all else fails read the instructions" Daniel

I'd have a look and see if you have some browser hijacker trying to send your browser to page that maybe no longer exists. Try or any of the other anti-spyware programs; and run a full scan with your anti-virus program.

Thank you...I have so many anti virus programs on here and I do a scan at least twice a week. I don't think anyone could hack this machine at this point. Badpolarbear installed the anti viruses and they do work good. I'm doing another scan tomorrow night. Thanks again.
