Bad hard drive?

My computer quit booting up. I ran the diagnostic test and it says, hard drive connection test failed. Also in bios it does not see my cd rom anymore, so I can't boot from it. What do u think is the problem?

It could be the hard drive, depending on make and model but it could also be the motherboard or even bad ram.
Try disconnecting the hard drive, both connectors and see if the cd drive is recognized.
If so, it's the hard drive if not, most likely it's the motherboard or a bad stick of ram.
