Another suggestion.
Download / Install / Update / and Run .
Then let us know how your computer is acting.

A few things you can gry:

Delete all your *.tmp files (c:\windows\temp\...).

Clean out your temporary internet files (first in I.E., click on Tools, Internet Options, Delete Files, select "delete all offline content", click OK; then go into c:\windows\temporary internet files\... and wipe out anything left).

Run the Disk Cleanup utility (Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Cleanup).

Get SpyBot and/or , update the definitions files, and clean up & remove any spyware. You can also use HijackThis to find spyware.

Update your anti-virus program's definition file & run a full scan, removing any viruses if you find them.

Delete any garbage you don't need on the computer (freeing up more disk space that can be used for virtual memory).

Download and run a full defrag (it runs in the background and doesn't restart when it encounters open files/programs, so you can still browse around on the Internet or what have you while you're defragging, if you want).

That'll clean things up a bit.
