I FINALLY got a new job. I worked at a local cinema for about a year (vue cinemas), it was min wage, poor hours and I was only meant to be temporary. I said to myself when I applied that I would only be happy to work there a year before moving on, and it’s just under a year.
Today I had a trial shift at the uk's largest food company. It is in the i.t. department on a service desk. People ring up from all over the country with i.t. problems and we have to log and fix the problems.
Basically, I know nothing about any of the programs they use. Citrix, SAP and a bunch of others. My friend works there already and he handed my CV in for me.
At the end of my trial shift they team leader took me aside and asked me how I thought the job went etc. He said not to worry about not knowing any of the programs and that I would pick it all up over time. I was very nervous but he asked would I like to come back on Monday and start working there!!! The job is not classed as a permanent vacancy; it’s a 3 month contract. There is a permanent vacancy at the moment so hopefully they won’t fill it for a couple months.
At the end of the 3 months, if they think I am good they will give me another 3 months etc.
Basically, I am over the moon. The pay is really good, the hours are good, it’s very close to home and it’s my first job in I.T.
Thought I would share it with you guys
wooo
Venney
