cant find any wireless signals

hello, i am trying to fix a problem with my friends wifi and am completely stumped on how to fix it... it's a laptop running windows vista and it cannot detect any wireless signals anymore. i have tried system restore, reinstalling drivers and reconfiguring power management settings to no success. any help would be much appreciated, thx.
