building a gaming computer

Postby Look4whom » Tue Oct 28, 2008 9:44 pm

I am thinking of building a gaming computer, well have my brother build it for me since he knows how to. Anyways i want this computer to be able to play games well, such as Sim 3 that is coming out soon. I am looking for it to play Sim 3 on its max level and still have enough room for other games as well. My starting budget for it was 700.00 dollars.

A friend of mine has a friend that is into computer stuff and etc. So i asked him to ask his friend to help me make a list of what i would need for the price i set. Now my brother said that those parts were pretty good but he forgot to put a few things in the list that i would need. So now I have a price that is higher than i asked. My brother said to go for it but i'm not sure. I have talked with my boyfriend about sharing the gaming computer if he would put half down with me. And that fact that i only have a 50in HD flat screen TV as the only resource available i have to work as the monitor. that is if my boyfriend does not share he's monitor with me. If i was to buy i cheap monitor i would still would have to purchase a keyword and a mouse, whether it is wireless for my TV or wire for a desktop set computer.
Does anyone have an opinion about whether i should get a wireless keyboard and mouse and use my 50in HD flat screen TV as my monitor, or just buy a cheap monitor n wire keyboard and mouse??? And also tell me if these parts are worth spending more money that my starting budget. Thank you

This is the list of the parts with a subtotal of $696.91.

there all decent parts and would run well. I would use the TV and wireless KB/M, it will give you awesome resolutions and detail compared to a monitor. What could be better than gaming on 50 inches of HD screen! It should be easy for you to do, the video card you selected should come with an adapter for use of an HDMI cable. The cable you will probably have to buy but it will run from your video card to the TV and carry both sound and video. Im not much of an Intel guy but it should run what your wanting to run. Its worth the money and you and your boyfriend both will enjoy gaming on a 50in HD.
