Plextor PX-716A will not burn DVDs anymore

Postby hue_jass » Wed Apr 30, 2008 9:49 pm

I recently ran into some problems with my DVD burner. I'm so confused, b/c it used to work perfectly...the only advice I was told was I had to replace the IDE and do a manual test pulling it out of my computer changing the master/slave etc etc.

I do not have time to do that...any suggestions? I'm guessing the worst that could happen would be the lazer for burning DVDs is bad....that sucks. RMA it? its about a year or two old so my warranty is over.

Note: This problem happened after a lot of software was installed and used to burn DVDs so I do not know if the SCSI or ATAPI layers were messed with, everything checks out okay and my settings are the same. IMGburn, Nero, Sonicburn were the ones I tried to have consistency with.

Hi Hue_jass

Try going to this web page and DL the files for your O/S

run the aspichk program to see if things are AOK

It is possible to get some bad media. I was tearing my hair out trying to figure out what what wrong and just opening a new (different brand) pack of media, solved my problems.
