Hey Loz :D

I was just after cheap but decent performance, no cheap crap.
Here's what I was looking at:

I'm probably gunna take the DVD drive out of the old pc (only thing I cansalvage) but I may just get .

I want to laugh because its more powerful than my pc and only £400 but it hurts too much :(

If you want to help out when/if the bits arrive I'd really appreciate it

Psymon,

You should not have to buy a new copy of Windows XP.
If you're getting a new HDD then just do a clean install using the product code on the Windows XP label on the old system, it should activate online.
Worst case would be you have to call MS toll free phone number and punch in the activation key code by hand. I've done this countless times and it has always work I've never seen a failure.

BTW is this an OEM system (Dell Compaq, hp, etc..)?
Because that can make a difference in what version of XP you have to install vs the product code on the label.

Heya Gecko,

The current PC was custom built too so I think its a retail copy of XP. Also there's nothing on the DVD or its case that says OEM.

Thanks for the info too :)
