cannot backup data

i'm trying to backup data from a HDD B4 format the winXP ,when i try to copy the folder from 'C:\Documents and Settings\user',a msg pop up and say that the "cannot be access....the disk is protected ..."
appreciated anyone there can help

You cant copy the entire user folder while your logged on as that user. The quickest way for what your trying to do would probably be to create another XP account, log into it then copy the user folder from your normal account.
