I've LOST ALL ADMINISTRATIVE CONTROL OF MY LAPTOP!...HELP!!!

Postby arty » Mon Dec 31, 2007 9:11 pm

Somehow in the users section of Control Panel,I managed to remove myself as Administrative Control of ANY kind!...I cannot SYSTEM Mechanic,Registry Mechanic,Diskeeper2008...Nor ADD or Unistall...My restore disk requires administrative permission...I cannot Install Windows Disc Wiping Software,,,,DBAN DISC won't run ...Nothing works without permission.....I am the only one who has ever used this unit and there is NO SPYWARE OR VIRUSES....I cannot add a user and my EXACT SAME LOGIN AS I HAVE ALWAYS USED to open Windows Welcome screen opens it but will not allow me ADMINISTRATIVE CONTROL OF ANY KIND!..I am completely STUMPED and this is my MAIN WORKING MACHINE for mobile operations!.....it runs fine....my
antivirus and anti spyware and other things work...but not my maint.tools!
I NEED A WAY TO HACK INTO MY OWN MACHINE as I have no knowledge of Command Promting...Don't even know if that'll work!....HELP....PLEASE....THIS REALLY BLOWS!....I'm sure I could Pay someone to do it!.....But figured I'd try my old friends here,First!...HELL I CAN'T EVEN USE SYSTEM RESTORE EITHER....WTF?
i never have, and never will be beaten by an inanimate object!

Hi arty,

You should be able to get everything back through safe mode.

Reboot into Safe mode:
Restart Windows after you see the BIOS screen and before Windows starts to load.
Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears.
Use the Arrow key to ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.

At the login screen select the Administration account not your account, there should be no password needed.

Once you are logged in as admin just give your account admin privileges then reboot into normal mode.

arty,

Let's try setting a different method of logging on to windows, restart your system.

At the Welcome logon screen, press CTRL+ALT+DEL two times that should bring up the classic logon screen.

If that does not bring up the classic logon screen you might have to set this manually:
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click User Accounts.
Click Change the way users log on or off.
Clear the Use the Welcome screen check box and reboot the system

Once you see the classic logon screen type in Administrator as the user name there should be no password.

Once you are logged in as Admin change your regular user permissions to admin

arty,

Click Start > Log off > Log off
Now wait for the hard drive light to stop flashing
Then press CTRL+ALT+DEL two times rather fast, that should bring up the text box login interface.

I'll see if I can do some research about a command line fix but I'm not sure that would work because of permissions.
