Sudden Virus Attacks

Wanted to run this by everyone.
I have 4 email accounts. All 4 are accessed with Outlook 2000. I get very little spam on any of them. I use Panda Platinum AV. In the last 3 years I have only recieved 1 virus. (And it was "caught" by AVG)
In the last 4 days I've recieved 3 new viruses.
1 - W32/Bugbear.B
2 - W32/Mydoom.A.worm (1 in a "readme.zip" and 1 in a .scr)
Panda caught them all.
All were on the same account.....my work account.
Is this an indication of an overall "flood" of viruses?
I can't determine the origin of the emails but it leads me to believe that I'm on someones address book that is infected.
Any thoughts?

Since I've posted I've received another: W32/Mydoom.A.worm in .pif (And Panda caught it)
Got me wondering.......

In the last 2 days I have recieved well over 4000 notifications of viruses stripped at work. Not to me, but to people in our organization. I am so happy someone finally listened to me and purchased an email virus scanner. I can only imagine those that haven't are currently pulling the remaining hairs from their heads.

yeah, well, i had a virus scanner on my outlook email account and it didnt find one virus one time, which is why i have a new comp, it blew my freakin memory, dont know how but it did, it was in a simple jpeg file and i thought it was a buddys pic but geuss not. be carefull of the scanner you choose

I would say you're right that its due to the overall flood of the two mentioned viruses.

I do know that the W32.Novarg.A@mm virus was in the wild at least 6 hours before most vendors updated their dat files.

At work I happened to catch one coming in and disabled all zip files from making through our gateway. Once the dat files were updated, I allowed zips once again.

Like PCGuy said - ive gotten a huge amount of them - mostly the source trying to send to names like joe@companyname.com - our alias standard is firstname.lastname@companyname.com, so they all bounce.

Just was supprised to start getting them after such a long time of "no Viruses".
NaTaS....I really like your idea on the address. If I could only get them all to relent to new addy's.....
