ALL I NEED IS HELP!!!

Postby HIBB » Thu Sep 06, 2007 6:50 am

I have no clue of what to do. I just bought all the compnents of a new system. Intel Core2 Quad PRocessor, Asus P5B Deluxe Mobo, 2x 1GB Corsair DDR2 mem, Pioneer SATA dvd burner, Western Digital SATA 500gb HD, ATI Radeon Stealth 9250 PCI graphics card, Antec Sonata Case w 500w Power Supply . I've done all that i can do by the instuctions from the manufacter's books and am at a dead end. I've assembled the mobo in case, hooked up processor, fans, power supply, but have no clue where to hook up drives. I've tried to Forest Gump my way through it by trying a bunch of different combinations but ev'ry time I try to boot I get 1 long beep followed by 2 short beeps. It never makes it to the bios. The graphics card is the only "addition" i have connected and it's in the PCI 2 slot. The memory is in the DIMM_A1 & B1 SLOTS. If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

here is a pic of mobo.

if you could give us the BIOS type we maybe able to help you search out a solution but I would turn my attention to the RAM ensure that they are seated correctly, check the manual to ensure that you have the right type / bus speed and that it doesn't require that A0 be filled first (my Mobo has an A0/ B0, A1 / B1 pairing.) also try booting it off from a single stick in the first RAM slot. If it boots from one and not the other you probably have a bad stick.

With the BIOS type we can narrow it down via the beep codes.

Asus uses an award based crash free bios and your beep code is indicating a video problem. Move the video card to a different slot and make sure its seated properly.

my appolgies, I was thinking of the 1-2-3 code dells throw at you which are memory based. I would try reseating the video card, also if there is an onboard video pull your card and connect to that one just to see what happens.

Hi Cking

You might want to check your Motherboard manual. The new Video PCI cards are PCI/16 and I believe that only the first slot, the blue one is PCI/16 the rest are PCI/4. They do make an AGP PCI dual board. I can't tell if slot one is AGP it looks like its PCI. If slot 1 is PCI then that's where the card goes.
