Samsung 226BW help

Postby robbro » Mon Aug 13, 2007 9:59 pm

hi guys!

I aint been on here for ages. i really need advice as its bugging me... i hate when things arnt perfect:P.

I recently bought a samsung 226 BW LCD 22" monitor from play.com. I noticed i get distortion of somesort around images and text.. i was on phone to play earlier they transfered me to samsung customer service. I was talking to a guy telling him i get distorting on images etc... and on videos it seems pixellated!

He went on about how its due to the size of the screen and the resolution but i dont see how... i mean its a nice monitor but this slight distortion bugs me im taht fussy! He just advised me to change settings/mess around till i find setting thats best! But it still there ! grrrr!

Any idea of what i can do ?? its irritating me i paid like 200 quid for this monitor too! DAMN THEM not listening

I got a screenshot below for the image i took. look carefully around the image and text you see a kind of blurring effect? and yes this isnt because its jpeg file because it looks like that on my LCD :(.

Any help would be great as im rather upset and annoyed =(!

Image

also a pic showing i get slight shadowing on white text when connected via vga on 360 Image look at the edge of the text saying command input and normal t and l at the end the white shadow appears behind:S.

might be the cable for that one though but on pc pictures look grainy no matter what settings i change =(! oh ignore the quality of that 360 pic i took it was cam phone sorry

hey lil jim! how you been? i know im lazy when it comes to on here sorry bud!

im using DVI for the PC and VGA for the 360 and theres a button on the monitor where i switch either source. it doesnt look like that for everything on the myspace images just certain images and i noticed i get grainy looking colours at times. Also if i can screenshot a video it looks pixellated at times and ive never had that before??

Samsung kept informing me that its the resolution of the monitor and the ratio its set but i dont see how thats true i mean i put the resolution down to 1024x768 and i still get same results but it looks even worse then what i have it on now which is 1280x720 as i changed it to that from the max res.

another pic of how the colours and pictures look grainy

ignore the windows border check the images in the window they are that distorted on my screen. the other distortion is due to it being a jpeg file compress.

on quicktime videos on the actual site( so i never resized or changed any settings look poor quality too now :(. example below :

i had the exact same problem. in my case i updated the driver for my nvidia card at the same time i got my 226bw. i didn't know if the driver had caused the problem, so i used the "roll back" function to change back to the previously installed one. all is good now. other things i've seen cause this are a bad cable/connection or corrupted driver.

hope this helps.
