Flash Drive - auto-update shortcuts?

Postby KristopherRobert » Tue Aug 07, 2007 2:41 am

Hi folks,

I hope you can help me. I've got a flash drive that is transferred between multiple computers, but on each computer, the drive has a different letter. On one, it's E:, on another it's O:, on another, it's K:.

I've tried googling for windows variables and % strings, and searched on here, but am not having any luck.

Is there a variable I can insert in the shortcuts I have at my jump drive's root to run a program, regardless of which drive it's on? (I.E. a shortcut links to %WhateverTheJumpDrive'sDriveIs%\program files\firefox\firefox.exe)?

Any and all advice is appreciated. :)

Regards,
-Kris

Each computer should issue a consistent drive letter (ie the same one each time it is inserted). It would vary from computer to computer depending on what was hooked up and mapped on that unit.

Sadly the answer is no.
