Laptop screen replacement question ('pc' to ibook)

Postby sheer terror » Mon Jul 02, 2007 12:34 pm

tonight i must have stepped on my ibook somehow and cracked the screen. it still works but .. well you know what a broken lcd looks like.

I have a spare NEC laptop that i dont use so i took the screen out of it (same size screen as ibook)

Just wondering if this will work or does it have to an 'apple' screen.

I really don't want to go to all the trouble of finding a Torx screw driver for the mac (a big fuck you to apple for using these by the way) to find out it doesnt work when i put it back together

is there anything i should be wary of doing this (and warranty isn't an issue)

I wouldn't think it should work. Generally, the displays are made for each manufacturor and aren't multi brand compatable.

I would be scared you would have 2 down laptops and not just one.

Apple is pretty proprietary on their stuff. I wouldn't think it would work either.
