Postby carol » Mon Jun 18, 2007 10:28 pm

Every time I boot my computer I get an error message about windows/system32/j6261736.dll. I can't find any information on this file. Can anyone advise me on how to correct this?

Hello carol,

I cannot find anything either so it is most likely a left over registry entry from a rendom named spyware file.
We can use a program called Hijackthis to remove the registry entry.

Please download HijackThis http://downloads.malwareremoval.com/hijackthis.zip and save it to your desktop.

To extract HijackThis:

1. Right-click your file HijackThis.zip and from the menu select "Extract All".
2. The Extraction Wizard Window will appear, Click "Next".
3. Click Browse and navigate to "C:\" or the "C:\Program Files" and click "Create A New Folder" and call it "HJT" or "HijackThis" or whatever that is easy to remember and then click OK.
4. Click the Extract button.
5. Close the HijackThis.zip dialogue box.

Now double-click on hijackthis.exe and when the window opens, Press the Scan now and save a logfile button and then when it is done, copy and paste the contents of the notepad it opens as a reply to this post.

carol,

Warning these instructions are for this thread only!
You should never attempt to use them for anything else!

Please copy this to Notepad and save it to your desktop or print it. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.
You should not have any other open windows when you are following the procedures below.

Please download to your desktop, do not use it yet.

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following:
(They may or may not be there)
Eggs Second.exe
SpamCash.exe

Start HijackThis and click "Do a system scan only" put a check next to each of the following entries:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [jugsplatformbikeface] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Globaljunkjugsplatform\Eggs Second.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [j6261736] rundll32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\j6261736.dll sook
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [GPLv3] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\dfwwbtcf.dll",realset
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Aim flag] C:\DOCUME~1\gemz\APPLIC~1\RdrBall\SpamCash.exe

Now click the "Fixed checked" button and then close HijackThis

Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist:
MyWaySA, MyWay search Mysearch Bar something like that.

Reboot into Safe mode:
Restart Windows after you see the BIOS screen and before Windows starts to load.
Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears.
Use the Arrow key to ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Remember to reset these when done.

Click Start, click My computer and then right click on your C: drive and select "Properties"
Now click the "Disk cleanup" button, in the next window put a check next to Recycle Bin, Temporary Internet Files and Temporary Files click OK and then click yes in the popup window.

Click killbox.exe, now select the option "Delete on reboot".
Now click on the "All files" button (it will turn green)

Next copy the below red part:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Globaljunkjugsplatform\Eggs Second.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\j6261736.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dfwwbtcf.dll
C:\Documents and Settings\gemz\Application Data\RdrBall\SpamCash.exe

Click 'File' in the killbox Menu on top and choose Paste from clipboard
Now click the red X icon to delete these files on reboot
Killbox will tell you that all listed files will be removed on next reboot and asks if you would like to Reboot now, click YES

If you don't get that message, reboot manually.

Once your system has rebooted post a new HiJackThis log when you reply.

(we can deal with unused items after we fix the bad ones)

Ok, I did all that. I got an error message from KillBox saying PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Data has been removed by external processes! and it didn't automatically reboot. On reboot I got an error message saying a problem was detected caused by file: vsdatant.sys and Windows failed to load. On the next reboot Windows loaded ok and there were no error messages. Seems the problem has gone.

Here is the HJT file ~

It's running fine now. No error messages. Thanks for the help. :)

So, how do I now get rid of the Tiscali Internet signup thing?

Hello carol,

To remove Tiscali Internet software from your system:

Start HijackThis and click "Do a system scan only" put a check next to each of the following entries:
O18 - Filter: application/x-internet-signup - {A173B69A-1F9B-4823-9FDA-412F641E65D6} - C:\Program Files\Tiscali\Tiscali Internet\dlls\tiscalifilter.dll
Now click the "Fixed checked" button and then close HijackThis

Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist:
Tiscali Internet

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Remember to reset these when done.
Delete the following Folder and all it's contents:

C:\Program Files\Tiscali\Tiscali Internet\
