HELP!!!

I have a Dell 2650 Inspiron. I havent used this thing in a long time and want to give it to my father,(I just got a new Mac Pro). The problems are these things, it was making a weird clicking noise. I removed the harddrive and the clicking stopped. The problem now is that when i go to turn the computer on the monitor comes on then it blacks out and i cant see anything...What i found was that it didnt really blackout i can see the screen but it is like someone turned the brightness level all the way down to where you can just make out whats on the screen. Also who makes a higher capacity harddrive for this laptop. Thank you all.
