hey all. essentially, im in a pickle. for the most part my computer might be considered rather nice. however, i have value ram that i aquired for free from my friend when i was under a tight buget. it is 2gigs using 4 sticks of 512. it is kingston ram. i have a ati radeon x1950xtx. could this value ram be holding my video card back in games? should i purchase some quality ram or is it even worth it? in addition my prossesor is a amd athlon 4000+. if i upgrade the ram, would it be a good idea to get a new processor as well? (while thinking about this, keep in mind i dont think my video card is performing the way it schould as it only gets fps of 60-80 in games such as counter strike source) I just need some help because im still kinda new to everything and my computer has not been very stable rescently. please help. maby post some thoughtfull ideas or links to quality products. thanks all for your time.

value ram is quite possibly a factor, one thing you can do is shut down ANY program that you dont need running. Close anything unnecessary to free up memory and see if theres a difference. Your processor should handle games just fine. 60-80 FSP isnt horrible but that card should be capable of a little more. If you have a high speed connection, download and post your score.

Do you know what speed or type ( ex. DDR400) the memory you currently have is?
