Me again diff computer

Postby Quickshot55 » Tue Oct 17, 2006 8:09 pm

I'm trying to fix my friends crappy computer. His video card is messed up and I can't install the drivers because it says... "Setup can only run in administrator mode. Setup is aborting" He is in administrator mode, which is why i'm confused. Sorry about posting two log files, i know this must be a pain for you. Well here it is.

Do you know what this file is?
C:\WINDOWS\system32\msaudio.exe

Do you know these IPs or Domains 66.73.20.40 and 206.141.193.55?
They are listed as dns but when pinged there are no ports open for domain name service.

Please copy this to Notepad and print it. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.
You should not have any open windows when you are following the procedures below.

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.)
Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

O2 - BHO: AcroIEHlprObj Class - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - blank (file missing)
O16 - DPF: {3A7FE611-1994-4EF1-A09F-99456752289D} (WildTangent Active Launcher) - http://install.wildtangent.com/ActiveLa ... uncher.cab
O16 - DPF: {88D8E8B7-A33B-4417-A385-8373484D43ED} (InstallHelper Class) - file://C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\ThereInstallHelper.dll

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Remember to reset these when done.
Delete the following Files/Folders if they exist:

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp\ThereInstallHelper.dll

Now, empty all your TEMP Folders, Temporary Internet Files Folder and then empty your Recycle Bin,
reboot and post a new HiJackThis log and the answers to my two questions
