My mum's pc

Postby ColaBoy » Sun Oct 15, 2006 5:16 pm

When I turn it on the hard drive makes a few whirling noises and then nothing. What caught my eye first was the fact that no signal was getting to the monitor and the power light on the front of the monitor was just blinking. I decided to open it up and maybe try a new video card when I found that most of the components were on board and so cannot be removed. With pcs like this are they possible to repair or should I just bin it?

So it's not even making it to POST, then it could very well be the power supply.
The PSU is the most common component to fail, from what I've seen anyway and I seen a lot of systems.

Theres no screen and I hear no beeps so Im guessing its not reaching POST. I'll try a new power supply and see what happens.
