Hey all. I just upgraded the other day and I have had nothing but problems. I bought Windows XP Pro 64 bit edition, and I cannot for the life of me get an internet connection, so I have to use this old POS.

It will not detect a LAN at all, it won't even detect or make an IP address. I tried to renew the IP in CMD but all it ever says to me is "Windows IP Configuration"

Here is my system specs.

AMD Athlon AM2 3800+
MSI GeForce 7900 GTO 512MB
Samsung PC5400 2 X 1GB Sticks
MSI K9N Platinum Motherboard.
80GB Maxtor SATA2 Hard Drive

That is what I upgraded to.

Can I run Windows XP Pro, the 32 bit edition, on a 64 bit CPU?? Thanks.

Have you tried the latest chip set drivers from msi?
Dated 2006-8-17

Do you get any lights at the network port where the cable is attached?

Found out why. I bought a copy of Windows XP Pro X64, and none of the drivers support the damn OS. Not enough stuff is 64 bit yet, so I uninstalled, went back to XP Pro 32 bit, working fantastic now. Everything is insanely fast on this sytem, you click and bam, right now it's done like that, I love it.

A coupel of other quick questions.

Is SATA2 alot faster then an IDE hard drive?
Can you notice it?
Anyone have the X-Fi Xtreme Music card from creative?
What do you think?

Thanks.
