Hi Jack Log

Postby venney » Wed Aug 23, 2006 1:51 pm

Hello guys (gecko lol)

First of all I will explain what’s up.
My pc is taking forever to load. I’ve no idea why. I’ve done spyware scans, and I have done a virus scan last night, am also doing 1 as we speak, as it just updated. I am hoping that I have a virus, because this log doesn’t really have anything nasty in it.

I did check over it but I thought I would post it before I remove anything. There are a few 'unknown' and 'possibly nasty' in there. But nothing bad, which is why I am hoping I’ve missed something.

Here is the log.
Thank you in advance.

venney,

Do you know what these two entries are?

O2 - BHO: Alcohol Toolbar Helper - {590B14B9-73BD-4BFD-93B0-A5E279F05DA0} - C:\Program Files\Alcohol Toolbar\v3.0.0.0\Alcohol_Toolbar.dll

O3 - Toolbar: Alcohol Toolbar - {5F5A5394-0747-448C-B6BE-9C54EDC92F52} - C:\Program Files\Alcohol Toolbar\v3.0.0.0\Alcohol_Toolbar.dll

I googled Alcohol_Toolbar.dll and only found one thing in some language that google couldn't translate well.
BHOs and Toolbars loaded from a *.dll file are suspect in my book.

Other than that the log looks fine

If the virus scan comes up empty and fixing the above doesn't resolve it then;
You could be infected with a rootkit (a way to hide files from windows)
Download and extract it to it own directory.
Start RootkitRevealer.exe and scan your system, it will take a long time to finish.
When the scan is complete click on File, Save, and save the log file. Copy and paste the log file here (no matter the size).

I just read you other post and the long load time could be related to your sound problem.
I'll replay in the thread.
