I just put together a new computer, and am using the same speakers (which have worked fine) from my old computer for this one. I have an ASUS A7N8X-X motherboard, amd 2500+. The sound is integrated on the motherboard. What happens is for one, there is always a high pitched sound coming out of my speakers, which get louder as I turn up the volume on the speakers (not the volume control in windows). The other problem is that sometimes when listening to music, playing a game, watching a movie, etc, the quality will get really bad and sound scratchy. I have never seen anything like this, I have no idea what is wrong. I would greatly appreciate any help, thanks.

My first guess would be the physical connection.It sounds to my like the jack isnt making a good connection with the plug,causing the feedback your getting.Try moving the plug around a bit while playing something.Try another set of speakers if possible.Its very unlikely for it to be a problem with the sound chip.

As liljim said, you really need to get hold of a spare set of speakers so you can eliminate them first

i tried plugging in headphones, and i'm still getting that humming sound. when i turn the master volume up it gets louder. could it possible be somes ort of driver problem or something?

Does this sound only take place during audio playback or is it constant even during idle?Here is a from ASUS.
