We have a new member in our household, a baby wood duck.

It was rescued from our back yard 3 days ago right from the mouth of one of our cats.

I waited until now to post this as I wasn't sure if it would make it but it looks good for the little guy/girl.

It is eating and drinking now as you can see in the photos.

My girls want to call it Woody or Lucky
I say call it Peep because that's what it does.

We plan on releasing it once it’s old enough or if we can find what lake the mother took the others ducklings to.

This is the fifth year in a row that we have had wood duck nest in one of our oak trees.
All the other years the mother duck would lead all the chicks to our local lake less then a half a mile away.
But this year this one got separated and the mother did not go to our locale lake.
We did find a mother and chicks at another lake about a mile away but the mother chased our little one away.
