Please help, this is driving me mad.

I have just rebuilt my pc using new case, graphics card, DVD-/+RW, cables, 450 PSU. All new....

I managed to install XP after several attempts. During installs i had several stoppages saying that .dll files were not being copied. One or two blue screen stoppages also. I formatted HDD first.

When i finally got XP installed, it would not let me install SP1. I have not linked it to the network yet. I downloaded it on my housemates PC and copied it to mine. All i get is corrupt file. It will let me install drivers for the graphics card and bios updates, as soon as i try to install programs for DVDRW it wont install saying that files are missing.

This seems to be the general problem that when i try to install anything i get messages saying that files have not been copied.

When i try and install games it tells me that there is not enough memory, Not HDD memory though.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be???

The only original parts from my original pc are the RAM, Processor, FDD and one of HDD, everything else is new. I have tried several HDD's and are still getting the same problems with each XP install.

This really sounds like a memory problem to me.
If you have a bad stick then it could corrupt the data that passes through it.

I would suggest that you download

Follow the direction in the zip file on how to extract to a floppy and how to use.

possible Solution

Sometimes the Motherboards RAM Detector does not work too clever.

Try 'manually' setting up your ram in BIOS, including the latency speed etc. This should be printed on the RAM module as CL2.5 or whatever.

This may well solve your problem.
