Gigabit - 10/100

All computer hardware support

Gigabit - 10/100

Postby patkim » Thu Dec 22, 2005 6:36 am

Some motherboards have Gigabit LAN while some have 10/100.
What is the difference between the two LANs? And which is better.
Thanks,

gigabit is 10/100/1000

1000 mbps transfer rate is great for gaming or file transfer over a home network if you have a router or switch that can handle 1000 + other computers on the network with it. Theres not really a benefit if your only using it for internet as some of the fastest resedential internet only reaches 4 to 5 mbps.
