MTU and router

Postby Junior_co » Fri Nov 04, 2005 6:44 pm

Wife is having trouble with her trading software. Cable Co says it isn't on their end. They say it is the router. Linksys says that we need to change the MTU (maximum transmission unit) to a lower setting. From disabled to 1492.

I am wondering if and how this will affect the speed of the internet connection.

Does any of this make any sense at all....

The trading software tech folks appearently said something about packets being lost. They don't know of any problems with their software, but my better half is usually the one to find all their bugs before anyone else knows..... (she should have a bat phone conncetion to their tech support people)

Any thoughts on any of this would be great..

Thanks

Junior
