Istbar removal help

Postby Sharp » Thu May 26, 2005 4:16 pm

Hi I just welcome to PCtech forums to solve my security problems. I hope we will help each other. thanks in advance . And my problem comes.
I have infected with istbar. I have Ad-Aware Pro, spywaredoctor, Norton pro all registered. They all can find istbar and removes or blocks but it copies itself again 10-20 times a minute( I watch this through AdAware Adwatch software). I search all contents about istbar on web but I can not find any solution. I dont have C:\programfiles\istsvc. I delete it first. But Ad-Aware locate istbar on C\programFiles\istsvc\istbar. I view the folders in show hidden files and folder but I can not find that folder but AdAware finds. I go to Dos in command promt and try to find thruogh DOS but still cant find. I have WinXP manager and delete startup and registry items and it doesnt solve my problem. I download Norton Istbar Removal tool but it can not remove though can not find it. Is there any solution apart from formating my valuable disks?

Thanks

Please copy this to Notepad and print it. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.
You should not have any open windows when you are following the procedures below.
mflmc.exe
istsvc.exe

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and"End Task"or"End Process"on each of the following:
(They may or may not be there)

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.)
Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RlF7Cgl] C:\WINDOWS\mflmc.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IST Service] C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Remember to reset these when done.
Start HijackThis and click the Open the misc tools section now click Delete a file on reboot
Select the following file to be deleted on reboot:

C:\WINDOWS\mflmc.exe

Click open but click no to reboot now do the same for each of the following files:
C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe

Now, empty all your TEMP Folders, Temporary Internet Files Folder and then empty your Recycle Bin, reboot and post a new HiJackThis log.

Please download
Run KillBox and paste the below into the text box:

C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe

Put a check next to “Standard file kill” and “ End Explorer shell While Killing file” now click on the red X.
Do the same for each of the below:
C:\WINDOWS\mflmc.exe

If you have rebooted your system since your HijackThis scan this file might be renamed:
C:\WINDOWS\mflmc.exe

Maybe I should allow or infect my computer again for istbar and then I do above things again because when istbar first uploaded my computer I delete those files from directories. I think killbox or other software cant find because of I had deleted them. Maybe it is good to infected again. virus against virus poison against antidote. funny but true. But I wonder why anti-adware softwares locate those files but can not find them to delete or they delete but istbar copies itself again. They are there but they cannot delete where is the actual source? they say in Programfiles\istsvc but nobody can locate or find that directory. I even go to DOS with command promt and search the directories but failed to find them. Where are they? I am going crazy.....

Symantic has a removal tool out for this joker

Here is the link--scroll down aways for the link.

You might have to run it a second time in safe mode if it can't remove all of it.
