Laptop resolution problem

Hello!

I apologize upfront for not knowing exact system specs for the Laptop in question here...

I have a friend who's got a Dell laptop with Windows ME on it. It has some ATI card in it. When he changes his resolution to 1024x768 from 800x600, the desktop size changes, but the actual visible screen size is still 800. While on the desktop you can actually move the mouse to an edge of the screen and the desktop moved over until it hit the end of the resolution size. It's like a browser window that is set at 800, but the site was created for 1024, but there are no scroll bars...just move the mouse right, and the desktop moves right until it hits 1024, etc...

I've never seen such a thing, but it obviously is not efficiently used like this. At this point, he has simply set his laptop back to 800x600.

Anyone have any experience with Win ME or laptops with this set up?

Usually there is a function key to make it go full screen. Or you can check in the video setting for full screen.

Is it maybe because you have your primary screen set as number 2, and ur laptop screen should be number 1 in the advanced display settings???

Just a thought...does his vidoe card support the resolution...is the DPI setting corect(that shouldnt make a difference though)...if there is another display menu under Display>>>Settings>>>Advanced, if there is there should be a size invcreaser or resolution chanhger in there...and finally is the screen refresh rate( ** Hertz )set correctly??? Please check these and get back to me
