I have run sophos antivirus, AVG antivirus and deleted 110 viruses in total. I have also run Microsoft Anti-Spyware and Ad-aware and i think it has helped a bit. I also deleted some sites i did not recognise from the trusted websites section in internet options. i still have popups and error messages and was wondering if someone could please check this hijackthis log and help. thanks:

I am also getting two error messages when i go on internet explorer and and when i log in to windows xp:
RUNDLL: Error loading C:\DOCUME~1\ANDYMI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\se.dll. Access is denied.
and
RUNDLL: Error loading C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\se.dll. Access is denied.

any help would be appreciated.

Please copy this to Notepad and print it. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open windows when you are following the procedures below.

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following: (They may or may not be there)
WildTangent

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.)
Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist:

Now, empty all your TEMP Folders, Temporary Internet Files Folder and then empty your "Recycle Bin", reboot and post a new HiJackThis log.

I am still getting spyware and error messages. Also, there were 4 files in a temp folder that would not delete. No reason why, just gave a windows ding sound. When i went to empty the recycle bin there were no files to be seen, even though i had deleted about 2000. Also when i went to 'empty recycle bin' is said "do you want to delete these 5 items" - even though there were none to be seen. I said ok, tried the same thing again and it asked again if i wanted to delete the 5 files. I'm very confused. Any other suggestions?

I was afraid there might be more to this.

I need to know what OS you are using, Windows XP, windows 98?
Also do a search for "wintools" and tell me if and where you find it please.
And last run ad-aware again and post what it finds, likeiesearch, ISIB, istoolbar or vx2.

Yes please search for wintools on your system.

Ad-aware is going to find something like iesearch, istoolbar, IBIS, vx2, search assistant,
please post what it finds not the registry keys but the program.

Ok you have two malware that are still there, vx2 and cool web search
Download and install from lavasoft.
Next download

Now boot into safe mode (hit F8 key on boot up until menu shows up)
Run the CWShredder program first when it is done then run Ad-aware plug-in vx2 remover.
Now run ad-aware again full system scan, select all and fix.
You should be able to empty the trash bin now.
Reboot and run ad-aware again full system scan, select all and fix.
Run hijackthis and post a new log

ok i did everything you said. cw shredder found 2 things and removed them, vx2 found nothing. also, ad-aware could not remove C:\WINDOWS\System32\LKPCX12N.DLL on the first scan, but didnt find anything on the second scan so said nothing more about that file. I still have the Recycle Bin problem though, and pop-ups are still coming up. here is the new hijackthis logfile:

Please copy this to Notepad and print it. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open windows when you are following the procedures below.

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following:
(They may or may not be there)

wsxsvc.exe
vmss.exe
m?hta.exe
pidgen.exe

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.)
Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

Ok, two things.

First, please copy this to Notepad and print it. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open windows when you are following the procedures below.

Reboot your PC into safe mode and log in as Administrator. Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.)
Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

O4 - Global Startup: AdwareFilter Background Protection.lnk = C:\Program Files\AdwareFilter\AdwareFilter.exe
O23 - Service: COM+ System Application (COMSysApp) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\System32\dllhost.exe (file missing)

Now, empty all your TEMP Folders, Temporary Internet Files Folder and then empty your "Recycle Bin", reboot and post a new HiJackThis log.

I think not fixing these problems in safe mode caused the HJT error you received.

Second, you seem to be running two Anitvirus programs. That isn't necessary. Choose one or the other and uninstall the one you don't wish to use. No need to lose resources on this.

ok here is the new log. i did everything you said but i still have the recycle bin problem and the search option on my pc has a problem now. i dont know if its anything major but it has nowhere to type in what im searching for any more, just says 'search companion'. It's hard to explain without showing you a screen dump, but i dont know how to put them on here.
