Help with reformatting using xp and sata drives

Postby Jnop » Tue Feb 01, 2005 12:38 am

Hi,

I purchased a custom built computer about a year ago and ive decided that it is time to reformat except i have one problem.

I put the windows xp disc in then reboot using the cd and this all works fine , then where i should get the screen to delete or reformat partitions instead i get , Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed on your computer.

Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer.

what should i do?

heres my system specs just incase

p4 2.8ghz ht
Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000 pro3 motherboard
asus 9600xt
1gig ram

ps. my system is currently running on a sata interface and has a bunch of raid controllers and accelerators and such, i dont have the best computer knowledge so im not sure what all this does i just have a general understanding.

You will need the drivers for your sata/raid controler on another disk. When you boot from the XP disk, one of the first things you see is "Press F6 if you need to install 3rd party drivers" (or something very close to that).Get your drivers together and press F6 when prompted to install them. After that it should see your HDD.
