Where are outlook 2000 email files kept?

Postby skax » Wed Jan 26, 2005 10:39 pm

I recently formatted the drive with my os on it (win2000) but backed up all winnt, c: doc & settings and other folders (that I thought any email files would be kept in) onto my other hard drive.

Now I am having trouble locating whatever file it is that the email files would be in. I thought it was a .pst file but when I copied this outlook.pst file over to my current folder it was actually a really old file and the emails I recieved since then have also been lost (I over wrote the outlook.pst file and didn't back it up before I did it)

Am I correct and emailas are kept in this outlook.pst file?

Thanks

They should be *.dbx files and you can find them like this:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{B5D1F61-1B21-42FB-BF6E-4ECBDBA656BA}\Microsoft\Outlook Express\*.dbx

You will have to show hidden files first.
