Strange internet problem, PC says offline but is net is on

ok well im a new poster here so hi everyone.

my problem is this, sometimes while online, a window will pop up, saying that there is no connection to the internet, and asking me to try again, or work offline. However my broadband connection is actually still online, but I wont be allowed to go to web pages and stuff, also if i go to try again it never works and i need to restart my pc. Does anyone know what the problem is?

I am using windows XP , on a broadband modem and using internet explorer.

Hello Dez, welcome to the forums.

So let me get this straight....your modem appears to be online, but you can't get to any web pages and your pc says that you are offline? Also, what ISP do you use and what kind of internet setup do you have?
