Hey guys I have been planning on making a website but I want it to be a website that only the members can get on stuff such as this site here. How do I make a login box and how to I make it verify the people that have registerred and how do I make it register people?
This site runs PHP-Nuke a server side application, if you truly want a hack proof
login then I would suggest .
You will need to have a server that has PHP and a sql database
Why thank you Gecko. I only have one concern. I am not very good with the different languages, so I use Microsoft Frontpage. Is there something that I can use that will support PHP? That would really help me out. If not maybe you could point me towards a tutorial that could help me learn the things I need to know.
Also I realizing that I am asking a lot but the main things that you need to make and test pages is a Web server with IIS and basically an editor, right?
Ok I will try to play with the program. But I am good with FrontPage and can work it good other than frame crap. What should I be doing in order to get used to php and My SQL?
I would say reading this would be a good place to start with php.
As for mysql you won’t have to know much at all, the php install will set that all up for you.
It will also maintain it, you just have to have an empty database to start with.
im finding this information extremely helpful too.
im just wondering if port 5 is the best free server for PHP/MYSQL atm or has it changed since this thread was posted? ive got a site thats uploaded on the college server atm but it hasnt got mysql and php installed, its just a really basic server.
i need to change to a server where i can have active users and get the site prepared for a public launch. the project started as a college web design unit but my boss liked the site and would like it to be hosted properly. it is created in dreamweaver CS3 and im just wondering if i can ask for some help within this thread then i get a free server sorted?
This thread is almost 2 ½ years old so I really cannot say if port 5 is even still free.
I would suggest that you follow the below link for a list of free php hosting plans.

The only thing you want to stay away form is when php safe mode on.
