PC wont recognise my cd rom drives

You don't say what version of Easy CD you have but WinXp doesn't support the early versions. Roxio's Support site has many updates and patches for their software, including drivers for your drives, which is what I suppect. Try going to their troubleshooting site .

cripes, I just came here for a similar problem. The PC recognizes the drives (A CD-R and a DVD drive) at startup, but they're not in My Computer. (neither are any of the virtual drives). When I check any of the drives' properties in the device manager, it says: "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

then it says I have to check the troubleshooter, but none of it's advice (uninstall the drives, restart and isntall again) helps.

please, somebody, ANYBODY...cd-rom drives can be pretty handy sometimes and I think I need 'em!

Strange that installing software effects your hardware setup (or atleast as windows sees it). Maybe try uninstalling ez-cd to see if you get your drives back. In that case, you'll figure out whether or not ez-cd creator is the problem. Have you ever used NERO burning software? I haven't had problems with their newest version yet.
