Postby Phals » Sun Oct 26, 2003 7:32 pm

OK about two days ago my power supply died, i got it replaced but now the mainboard doesnt recognise any of my drives, bios is working so i dont think the mainboard got fried. Could the power supply have serged and fried my drives??? If anyone has any idea, thoughts, or help plz let me know, i sure as hell could use it.

Ok well the power supply died after about 2 weeks of operation. . .not that thats really relavent. Ill just give you a list of all ive tryed:
1. Remove and reinstall drives. . .differant order, differant cables(did make sure jumpers were currect)
2. attempted to update bios to see if it would recognise the drive
3. tryed hd in diff computer. . . worked fine
4. tryed other drives in other comp also worked fine

latest evaluation of the situation. . . IDE controllers on the mainboard got fried

If anyone can help me with that or let me know if im missing something plz feel free to criticize!!

What Operating System are you running?
Have you looked in Device Manager and/or updated drivers? Expand the complete tree and note any exclamation or question marks.
Have you tried removing the drives from Device Manager and then rebooting and let Windows detect them?
Did you try installing your drives in another computer?

Obviously not. You're right. I try to... but I was totally off on my thought. Sorry. I'll try again....
What MOBO are you running? Have you reset the BIOS? brad
