I use a program called Ava Find for searching. It's much better than windows built-in searching because it's instanttanious... it gives you results in less than a second.

I also downloaded Google Desktop Search which allows you to search inside your files. It searches through your emails (outlook or outlook express), Aol IM history, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Text files, and your web history. I'd switch over completely, but it google desktp search only seems to keep track of certain types of files. It'll find mp3's, but it doesn't find weird file names. I searched for bcd.cfg, and it found references to that file in 2 webpages that I went to, and a reference to it in a help file for bart's corpmodboot cd, but did not give me a link to the file directly.

Both of these are powererful tools, but until google desktop search gets a little more refined (its still a beta program), I'm using Ava Find for most of my search needs
