rECORDING mETHOD

Postby smilinjack » Sun Nov 07, 2004 1:35 pm

Greetings,
Pardon me if this is the wrong sub-forum for this question.
Is it possible to simply connect via patch cord from the speaker output on unit A to the music/soud/mic input on unit B. Or, from a stereo reciever?

Thanks,
Jack

possible, but not recommended.
Why : speaker output = 4-8 ohm impedance
input = 100k-ohm impedance or more
Also, the volume levels will not correspond.
Why do you want to connect the output of an amplifier to the input of another one?

Noby,
Thanks for your reply!
Two reasons:

I would like to record radio that i listen two via the web.
Does what you said apply to the computer outlet as well

>>> I have music on cassette that is old and not been released on CD. <<< I would suggest playing it on a receiver or amplifier, and use the line out connector, or look for one that has this connector

>>> I would like to record radio that i listen two via the web. << use the line out connector here, you can connect it to the input of your amplifier without problems

Noby,
So you're saying to put an amp/reciever between the two connections in both instances?

No, i did not :

>>> I would like to record radio that i listen two via the web. << use the line out connector here, you can connect it to the input of your amplifier without problems.
I said here to use the speaker out connector, this is in fact the line out connector as it connects to a built in amplifier in the speakers, so you can connect it directly to the amplifier, or recording system

To clarify further : you have at least 3 connectors on a sound card :
line in - - > any source you want to input from into the PC
Mic in - - > Mike in
spk Out - - > this is the one !

Clear now?

I see,
Only problem is the Altec speakers I use don't appear to have a "line out" provision.
