IIS for files?

I currently use my web host for files that I post on my webpage. I’m rapidly running out of room though. Instead of upping my storage and paying more money I was thinking that I could set up IIS and just put the files I want to share in the a directory and link to them from my site. The page that they are linked from is password protected so I'm not that worried about security (unless you think I should be). Any pointers would be great.
