Outlook Express Outbox

Postby fishoutofwater579 » Mon Oct 18, 2004 7:51 pm

I have my hotmail brought to Outlook Express and when I went to send something to my friend I didn't monitor the size. It was 11MB not 10 MB and Hotmail will not send anything over 10. Now everytime I want to send something out via outlook express I have to send it, let it sit in the outbox and reboot the program. The version I am running is 2003. When I try to delete the message that is too big it won't let me telling me that Outlook has already started transmitting the document. What am I supposed to do to get rid of the critter?

Try setting it to Work Offline then delete the file.

Click Start>Find> Files or Folders
Type in outbox.dbx, search in your C: drive, then highlight and right click then delete. Make sure you don't have Outlook Express open when you do it or you will get error.

Is this particular email in the Outbox?
If it is drag it into the drafts folder or another folder then delete it. This way its not trying to be sent.
Let us know if this worked

Just a silly thought but have you tried to remove Hotmail from Outlook? See what happens, you can always add it again.

that also didn't work, and now i can't bring back hotmail. It says there is a registry error or something. I have tried a complete uninstall and reinstall. Now I think that I need to find a new Outlook.pst file. any idea where to get one?

Can you please tell us how you finally got it back to normal. I think we are all interested concidering this was a huge P.I.T.A. for you

So the oversized messages are still in the outbox? :|

*edit

In Outlook Express, click Tools>Options.
Under the General tab, Send/Receive section, untick the option "send and receive messages at start up." Click Apply and close Outlook Express.
Now open Outlook Express again and see if you get the chance to delete the message in the Outbox.
