you have not stated what version of xp & nero you are using.
if you have recently installed xp sp2 you will need the latest version of nero currently 6.3.1.20 last time i looked

How do you expect people to help you if you don't give them the information they need.
Again I ask what version of XP are you running (right click My Computer and it will state it on the 'general' tab under the heading 'system'. AND what version of Nero are you running (open Nero and click on 'about nero burning rom' in the 'help' section).
Also are you trying to burn a CD or a DVD image.
Have you recently changed the media (CD-R DVD-R/+R) that you are trying to burn to.

Can you get of another burner (as a loaner) that you can try in place of your current one to check that your burner hasn't gone belly up!

Hey, i think ive sorted it, when i burn an image with programs, i went onto Alcohol 120% when i go thru the options, i had it on summitn or other protected cd, i changed it to general cd, and im burning a disk now and it started like it used to, no waiting. i hope it works, on 60 % now.
